He disclosed that the incident happened on November 16, at the couple’s residence in Oko-Oba, Oyo town

“The deceased attempted to have sexual intercourse with his wife who resisted the move.

“The resistance led to a struggle between the deceased and the suspect during which he collected and smashed the wife’s phone on the ground.

“In retaliation, the suspect went for a knife and stabbed the deceased in the chest, resulting in his death,” he said.

According to Osifeso, the deceased and suspect returned to their home on the day of the incident after three months separation as a result of misunderstanding.

He said the suspect confessed to the crime and would be charged to court on completion of investigation.

The wife was among the 25 suspects paraded for various offences such as murder, armed robbery, burglary, stealing, cultism, kidnapping and conspiracy.

In the same vein, the police paraded nine suspected cultists who were caught with guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons with the intention to unleash mayhem on members of Ilupeju community on new Oyo- Ogbomoso Expressway.

“The cultists were nabbed on November 5, after a credible anti-crime surveillance and intelligence report,” Osifeso said.

He said items recovered from the suspects include two locally-made guns, two live cartridges, one facemask, two Bajaj motorcycles and one Mazda bus.

Also paraded were five armed robbery suspects from whom two locally-made guns were recovered.

The suspects were said to be terrorising the people of Oyo town.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams, has warned against destruction of billboards, defacing of campaign posters, inciting utterances and deeds as the 2023 general elections approach.
