The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Saki West state constituency, Hon Femi Julius Okedoyin has disclosed the main reason behind his interest to represent the good people of Saki West state constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly.
Femi, in an interview with Insideoyo.com on Sunday said his representation will center on two major issues which are cordial, intimate relationship with the electorate and inclusive representation.
“There are two things that are very paramount in my mind that I think we don’t have such in Saki land – cordial, intimate relationship with electorate and inclusive representation.
“Most politicians have turned the office to paradise or Al Janah. After they have assumed office, they don’t see the electorate as something again. They see them as people not important which is suppose not to be so. I will build a good relationship with them because I consider legislative arm of government as a legal work that if you are not close with your people. What will you talk about your constituency at the floor of the house. We will be having what we called town hall meeting” he said.
The graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife added that as against his predecessors’ style, he will bring new empowerment style which will be different from the usual one. He also said that he will not forget the people that helped in one way or the other without leaving those that didn’t help him too.
“My empowerment program will move from giving people fish to teaching them how to fish and help them with necessary tools. I will do more on skills acquisition. I will also do more on sports. I discovered that there are talents in Saki, I will make sure those talents are useful to the state, country and world. I have been doing that already, the Femo Unity Cup is a good example. It will be a thing of joy if we have one of our son or daughter at the top in the area of sports.
“I learnt something from a friend who is a lawmaker in Taraba state which I will imbibe. He didn’t abandoned his old friends and people. He do wine and dine with them which make his constituents to have sense of belongings. I will be open to everyone.
“As a student of local government studies, I will also lend my voice to the autonomy of local government. Local government knows the grassroots better, it needs to be autonomous.” He added.
The Saki-born business man while concluding urged the people of Saki West local government to come out en masse on Saturday to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party. He also hope and pray for a peaceful poll.
