Oyo State Deputy Governor Engr Rauf Olaniyan has called on people of the state to live together in peace and harmony so that the desired developments the government promised could be achieved.
The deputy governor made this call today in Igboho his hometown after the Eid prayers led by chief Imam of Igboholand Sheik Mudashir Muhammad Awwal Oloola at the Muslim praying ground along Sepeteri road, Igboho. He called on the people of the state to live in peace and harmony irrespective of their religious, ethnic, communal and political differences.
He also noted that desired development can not take place in a society embroided with violence and disunity. He therefore called on all religious and community leaders to use this Eid El Kabir to preach peace and unity to their followers.
The chief Imam of Igboholand Sheik Mudashir Oloola in his sermon after the Eid prayers admonished all political leaders in the state and Nigeria at large to lead with the fear of almighty Allah as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim in the Holy Quran.
In his own remarks, Oba AbdulRasheed Adetoyese Jaiyeola Anikulapo I, Ona Onibode of Igboho warned youths of the community to avoid acts that can tarnish Islam in the name of celebrating Sallah. He also warned them not to engage in any carnival as such event remained banned and called on parents to warn their wards to celebrate moderately.
