It was celebration galore at the weekend in Itasa and Idiko Ile in Iwajowa Local Government areas of Oyo state as communities in the area came alive on the MTN communication network.

The communities had been caught off from the outside world in terms of communication but the community leaders late last year reached out to the Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commucation (NCC), Professor Adeolu Akande for his intervention.

Shortly after, the MTN reported in the communities and started the erection of masts. At the weekend, the network came alive.

According to a community leader, Hon Jide Akinlotan, the communities had agitated for the connection of the area to communication services but all efforts they made failed. ” Late last year,we reached out to Professor Akande and he promised that our communities would be provided communication network. This weekend, our communities came on the MTN network services.

“We are happy. This will improve the social and economic life of our people. It will boost our economy and our students will have access to more information for their studies. We cannot thank Prof Akande, NCC and MTN more” .
