One week after 22 governors stormed Kano, several political bigwigs converged on Oyo state for the second part of the wedding of Idris Ajimobi and Fatima Ganduje.
Fatima is the daughter of Abdullahi Ganduje, Kano state governor, while Idris is the son of Abiola Ajimobi, his Oyo state counterpart.
Bola Tinubu, a national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Prof Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President; Aisha Buhari, wife of the President; Kayode Fayemi, minister of solid minerals; Bar Adebayo Shittu, minister of communications and array of others, were some of the bigwigs present at the reception which took place at Agodi Gardens, Ibadan.
While speaking at the wedding reception, the bridegroom’s father, Alhaji Ganduje described the wedding as abridge building mechanism that would provide an everlasting friendship across the Niger.
He then called for a similar relationship from Nigerians for further cement of the nation’s unity. Ganduje thereafter named Idris Ajimobi as the Seriki Nyaki of Kano state which literally means the Chief warrior of Kano state.
Earlier in his opening remark, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Kola Daisi, prayed for a successful marital life for Idris and Fatimah Ajimobi, noting that the relationship between the young couple was a blessing for the unity of the country.
He commended the courage of Idris Ajimobi for extending his hand of love beyond the Niger bridge, stressing that if he were to have a similar opportunity in his younger days, he would have opted for a Fulani lady like Idris Ajimobi did.
Insideoyo.com gathered that the third part of the wedding will take place in Lebanon.
