Alhaji Mukaila Lamidi, aka Auxiliary, a former acting chairman, National Union of Road Transport Workers, Oyo State, has explained that the current leadership of the union will vacate office on May 29.
According to PUNCH, Auxiliary said the agreement had already been made on rotation of executives when government changes.
He said with arraignment, a new leadership would take over the affairs of NURTW once Seyi Makinde, the winner of last Saturday election, was sworn in.
“Let me set the record straight that I was the deputy state chairman to my late boss, Lateef Salako (Eleweomo) and was serving as acting chairman of the union in the state for about two months before the administration of Senator Abiola Ajimobi came in. And when Governor Ajimobi took over, Taofeek Oyerinde (Fele), Abideen Olajide (Ejiogbe); Musa Alubankudi and Tiri Olowoposi came to Iwo Road to take over, we did not resist them and they took charge.
“We are all witnesses to what happened when this current administration came in; the situation is the same now. They have had their time, it’s our time. I am sure they won’t contest it,” he said.
He called on the Police and other security agencies to arrest anybody found disturbing the peace of the state.
