The Oyo State Youth Parliament was inaugurated on Wednesday with Adesoji Adegoke emerging as Speaker of the 3rd Assembly.

Adegoke is from Ogbomoso South State Constituency of Oyo State.

In his acceptance speech, Adegoke said matters concerning the youths and citizens of the state would be on the front burner of the parliament

”We shall make response recommendations to the right corners on the following: education, health, sports and empowerment of youths and development, ” he said.

29 members were present at the inauguration out of the 32 members.

Speaking at the inauguration, Hon. Joshua Olagunju Ojo, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, said the youths must be at the forefront of engaging political leaders on critical national issues that affect them.

” The constitution of the 3rd Assembly of the State Youth Parliament with election of members should be seen as epitome of deliberate efforts of government toward prosperity of Oyo State

“I enjoin the elected youth parliamentarians to be good ambassadors of the state in all your engagements,’’ he said.

He implored the youths to ensure that the parliament serves as a platform to objectively discuss and solicit creative solutions to challenges before society.

Mr Afeez Bolaji, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Sports, represented Mr Muyiwa Oke, the Commissioner for Youth and Sport in the state.

He said the objective of the programme was to bring together youths and prepare them for effective participation in the process of decision making.
