Oyo State House of Assembly has summoned the Executive Secretary, Primary Healthcare Board and the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Bashir Bello to appear ln October 24 to brief it on the state of primary health sector in the pacesetter state.
The resolution was made by the Speaker of the house, Mr. Adebo Ogundoyin, following a motion brought to the House by a lawmaker representing Lagelu State Constituency, Mr. Akintunde Olajide on the urgent need for community healthcare reformation in Oyo state.
In his prayers, Mr. Olajide urged the executive to fully implement policies on primary healthcare for quality service delivery, while appealing to the Assembly to invite relevant stakeholders to the plenary to brief the house.
Deliberating on the issue, member representing Ibadan North East Constituency 1, Mr. Olamide Akinajo lamented the dilapidated structures of Primary Health Centres, saying many of the PHCs had been affected by the recent flood flashes.
While the minority leader, Mr. Asimiyu Alarape called for the immediate declaration of state of emergency on the health sector, majority leader of the house, Mr. Sanjo Adedoyin asked for a comprehensive auditing on the monthly stipend released by the state government for the running of primary healthcare.
