The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr) Lekan Balogun, Alli Okunmade II, has admitted to an administrative error the appointment of three Jaguns into the two ruling lines of the Olubadan chieftaincy titles.

This was as the three letters purportedly said to have been issued for the Jaguns in the two ruling lines (Olubadan and Balogun) have been cancelled by the Olubadan Palace.

The news of the appointment of three Jagun for the two ruling lines of the Olubadan chieftaincy titles went viral on the social media, earlier in the day.

However, a statement from the Olubadan Palace stated that Oba Balogun admitted to the administrative error and subsequently cancelled the three letters issued to that effect.

“Following the controversies trailing the appointment of Jagun in the two ruling lines of Olubadan chieftaincy title, (Olubadan and Balogun), the three letters to have purportedly emanated from the Palace have been cancelled.

“Three letters, two for Jagun Balogun and one for Jagun Olubadan were flying in the social media on Tuesday. Yet, there currently exist only two vacancies in the two lines, one apiece,” it was stated in the statement.

The statement also quoted the Olubadan as saying that the development was due to administrative errors and in order to correct the errors, the letters have been withdrawn.

“Oba Balogun however assured the prospective Jaguns to see the development as a temporary measure and not the end of the road, stressing that the vacancies are still there and would be filled in due course.

“He enjoined them to remain calm while the errors are corrected with a promise that the cancellation would not amount to denial,” it was added in the statement.
