A three-storey building collapsed on Friday in Bode area of Ibadan barely 48 hours after a similar incident in Lagos in which at least 20 persons died.
Many people are suspected to be trapped in the Ibadan collapsed structure.
Olugbenga Fadeyi, spokesman for the police in Oyo state, confirmed to NAN that rescue efforts were on-going at the building site.
“What is important now is to remove the debris and rescue those trapped and after that, the number of casualties will be ascertained,” he said.
“The Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu, is here as well as the Fire Service carrying out rescue operations.
“The cause of the collapse is, however, yet to be ascertained.”
