The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially kicked off its campaign for the 2023 presidential election.
The campaign was flagged off on Monday at the Godswill International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom.
Those present at the event include the party’s national chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu; Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate; and his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa.
Others are former Senate Presidents, David Mark, Bukola Saraki, and Anyim Pius Anyim.
Governors at the venue include Godwin Obaseki of Edo State; Douye Diri of Bayelsa State; Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State; Darius Ishaku of Taraba State and Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State.
However, Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, and his allies, including Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State, Samuel Ortom of Benue State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, were absent from the event.
Speaking, Akwa Ibom State Governor and chairman of the presidential campaign council, Udom Emmanuel, said the party is flagging off “the hope for Nigerians.”
He said the campaign will be anchored on what the major opposition party will do for Nigerians if elected in 2023.
