His words: “It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all to tonight’s event – “A Celebration o Excellence” in honour of some of our members who have either attained-mileston achievements in their respective professional careers, achieved landmark politica successes via election or appointment into political offices at the Federal or State leve appointed or elevated into a ranking chieftaincy title in Ibadanland, conferred wit honorary chieftaincy title by recognized traditional institutions, conferred with National or State merit award, or conferred with a honorary Doctorate Degree (Honori Causa) by recognized tertiary institutions.

“I say “some of our members” with emphasis because JBC is blessed with and parades a star-studded membership that comprises seasoned bankers, captains of industries, seasoned administrators and philanthropists One thing they have in common however is that they are all “ojulowo omo Ibadan”. I say, a big congratulations to them all.

“Let me take a moment to introduce our great Club, Jericho Businessmen Club JBC, to those who probably are coming in contact with us for the first time. JBC is a club of upwardly mobile Ibadan indigenes established about 21 years in Lagos. Our vision is to be the club of first choice for Ibadan sons who are committed to transforming Ibadanland into the epitome of development in Nigeria. We salute the vision, passion and courage of the pioneering members and past Presidents of the Club, starting from the first President, Chief Adeyemi Soladoye (Ekerin Baameto of Ibadan Land) to the immediate past president for bringing the Club to this enviable position in the comity of Clubs in Ibadan and The State in general

“Over the years, we have contributed and supported immensely in the areas of social, economic, healthcare and educational sectors of Ibadanland. This is through the execution of numerous developmental programmes to various communities and the empowerment of active artisans and vulnerable indigenes.

“We are committed to doing more and make our impact felt even beyond the town. We are committed to the industrial transformation of our dear state and addressing head-on the hydra-headed issue of youth unemployment. To this end, we are willing to collaborate with the State and will require the support and assistance of the government to actualize this.

“As enunciated above, JBC has been fulfilling its cardinal object of giving back to the society through the execution of various projects like scholarship awards, upgrading of health centres and provision of medical facilities, sinking of boreholes in schools, provision of loans to artisans and petty traders, etc. However, this event was put together in honour of our members because of our strong belief in celebrating our own people. I wish to place on record that we had, in the past, organized a similar successful event where some of our members were hosted. God’s willing, we shall continue to roll out the drums for our members. Tonight affords us another opportunity to show case some of the best and the brightest in JBC,

“We are also using this occasion to demonstrate our sincere appreciation and gratitude to a great Ibadan leader, in person of our father, Chief Bode Amao (OON). The Ashiwaju of Ibadaland. Baba will be awarded AN EXEMPLARY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. This is in recognition of his selfless services to humanity, particularly to Ibadan, and his invaluable love and support for JBC from inception to date.”
