The Chairman of Irepo Local Government, Hon. Sulaimana Lateef Adediran (SANTANA), has flagged off the distribution of writing and learning materials ranging from Exercise books and writing sets for students in about 72 public schools across the Local Government Area.
The chairman flagged off the exercise in Irepo Local Government Council Complex, Kishi, on Thursday, saying it’s a step to encourage the policy of free education.
Hon. SANTANA, commended the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde for his giant strides in ensuring free education policy.
Speaking at the event, the chairman expressed his love and passion for sowing into the life of the little ones as he believes they are the leaders of tomorrow.
According to him, “education plays a critical role in the fortunes of every nation, hence we must invest in the education sector to enhance development.”
At the event, Mr. Adisa Agbaje, the chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, Irepo, said the exercise is meritorious.
He added that it will go a long way in reducing the burden on parents and guardians.
Agbaje in his message said the chairman had earlier distributed teaching aids/materials to Irepo NUT/AOPHSON helmsman on their courtesy visit to his office.
He described the gesture as a positive turnaround in the development of education. He added that free distribution of writing materials for the pupils/students would not only reduce burdens on parents and guardians but also aid the pupils/students learning processes
Acknowledging on behalf of the public schools in the local government area, the chairman, Irepo AOPSHON thanked the LG chairman for his kind-heartedness towards the pupils/students and prayed God should reward his efforts.
Also speaking, Alh. Hon. Ibrahim Tijani commended Hon. Suleimana Lateef Adediran SANTANA. He described the exercise as great strides in the development of education.
In attendance were Vice-Chairman, Honourable councilors, Irepo LG Executive Officers, traditional leaders, clerics, political appointees, and leaders, past local government chairmen, PDP party leaders, supporters, and members of the public.
