A group in Ibarapa, PDP Youths Vanguard (PYV) has called on the lawmaker representing Ibarapa North/Central State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly, Honourable Peter Ojedokun to stop parading himself as consensus candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP in the next general elections.

The group made the call in a statement signed by its Chairman, Mr Johnson Akinade, Secretary, Mr Azeez Rahaman and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Igangan.

The group said the lawmaker should know that no consensus was reached to make him the party’s candidate but rather imposition.

PYV said there are other aspirants in the state constituency who also want to represent the good people of Ibarapa North/Central State adding that imposition of an aspirant as the candidate will not be good for the party in the 2023 general elections.

While calling for a free, fair and credible primary election, they urged tthe leadership of the party to allow democratic process to take charge for the interest of the party.

The statement read in part: “We want to use this medium to call on the lawmaker representing Ibarapa North/Central State Constituency at the Oyo State House of Assembly to stop parading himself as the consensus candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

“Honourable Ojedokun should be aware that there are other aspirants who want to represent the good people of Ibarapa North/Central State Constituency.”
