A fresh crisis may be brewing between members of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and suspected cultists if security agencies and especially the Oyo State Government did not take prompt action.

This is because, the OPC in the state has said it might resort to self-defence if the security agencies fail to protect its members at Oopo, Inalende, Abebi and its environs against the attack from the hoodlums and cultists in the area.

The warning came on the heels of disclosure that the only survivor of a recent attack on the OPC members in Oopo, identified as Opeyemi, has also died.

The death brings to three the number of casualties recorded by the OPC after two had earlier been confirmed dead with Opeyemi in coma.

Oyo State Coordinator of OPC, Comrade Rotimi Olumo, gave the warning when contacted yesterday by The Nation.

He noted that the gangs that attacked and killed three of his members are not only hoodlums and cultists in the day but are also armed robbers in the night.

He expressed shock that despite the havoc being unleashed on innocent resident farmers by suspected criminals in the villages and farms, some youths could also turn themselves to menace in the cities, terrorising people.
