Chief Akin Oke, Oyo state chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed how former governor of Oyo State, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, betrayed an arrangement with Governor Abiola Ajimobi during their London meeting.
Chief Oke claimed that the agreemet between the trio was to contest for senatorial seats but Alao-Akala’s change to seek the governorship seat instead. The APC chairman said Akala’s turnaround before the APC governorship primaries was a shocker to Ajimobi and the party.
Further quoting Oke, Nigerian Tribune reported that the APC offered Alao-Akala the senatorial seat for the 2019 election but upon his insistence on vying for the governorship, he was said to have been told by Ajimobi to go and test his popularity on the field.
The APC state chairman stated this recently in Ogbomoso at a rally for the party’s candidate for Ogbomoso North/Ogbomoso South/Oriire Federal Constituency, Hon Olagunju Ojo.
But in a swift reaction, the Director General, Akala/Olaiya Campaign Organisation, Mr Wale Ohu, discountenanced Oke’s statement, stating that his principal, Alao-Akala, never had an agreement with Ajimobi on vying for the Senate, in London. He said Ajimobi only came with Folarin to beg him to stay in APC and jointly tackle Rashidi Ladoja political family in the Oyo state.
He said his principal, Akala had the political clout to win a Senatorial seat in Oyo North without having to rely on Ajimobi’s offer.
Insideoyo.com had reported how Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala and former senate leader, Oloye Teslim Folarin and Governor Abiola Ajimobi met in London to discuss political future and collaboration to stop the Ladoja’s political dynasty ahead of 2019.
