The chairman of Oorelope Local Government, Hon. Akeem Raheem, has told the Chairman of the Oyo State Water Corporation, Dr. Adebayo Adepoju that the people of the local government have high hopes regarding the Igboho Waterworks.

Raheem, who stated this when officials of the Water Corporation, led by the chairman, paid a working visit to the local government to inspect the facilities at the Waterworks, commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s government for revisiting the moribund Waterworks.

He extended his appreciation to the governor for his efforts in developing the state across different sectors, stating that the move to provide potable water for communities in Oorelope Local Government is a welcome development.

He added that the approval given by the governor to the state’s Water Corporation to ensure that the Waterworks is put to work will make the people feel the impact of the government more.

Raheem assured the Corporation that his administration at the local government would provide necessary support for the operations of the Corporation whenever the need arises.

In another development, the council chairman welcomed the new batch of National Youth Service Corps to Oorelope Local Government, noting that Oyo State is a friendly environment where the corps members would thrive.

Raheem, who also used the occasion to commend Governor Makinde for the recent increase in the corps members’ allowance, said the governor has always shown that the welfare of all and sundry is paramount to him.

He charged the corps members to use their allowances judiciously by investing on productive ventures that can improve their lives as well as small scale businesses and agriculture.

He said: “I welcome you all to Igboho, headquarters of Oorelope Local Government. You are in Oyo State the land of opportunities and I want to tell you that you have come to a community of friendly people.

“For those of you who may be interested in agriculture, I assure you that lands, seedlings, ploughing equipment will be provided free of charge. Any corp member interested should contact me for assistance.

“I urge you all to make use of the fertile lands in Oorelope Local Government for agriculture purposes as a side hustle. You can engage in the planting of maize, soya beans, groundnut, millet, watermelon, cucumber, melon and others.”
