No fewer than 150 residents of Egbeda Local Government area of Oyo state on Sunday benefited from the relieve materials distributed by an aspirant of the state House of Assembly in the Local Government, Hon. Ibrahim Idris.
Idris who contested on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019 general elections, said the relieve was distributed to cushion the effects of economic hardship trailing the lockdown in containing Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
Presenting the items to the beneficiaries, Idris explained that the gesture was to assuage hunger among his constituents who depended on daily income as their major source of livelihood.
The Assembly aspirant added that the move was in fulfillment of his promises to support the needy in his constituency.
He therefore advised Nigerians, especially his constituents to maintain social distancing, regular hand washing and wearing of face masks to contain the spread of the deadly virus as recommended by health professionals and government.
Idiris urged the people of Oyo state to always observe government directives on COVID-19 in ensuring that the state did not record more cases of coronavirus.
Items distributed includes; bags of rice and cartons of noodles while the beneficiaries are mainly; women, children and most vulnerable persons in the constituency.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, an aged woman simply identified as Iya Adugun commended the ex PDP Assembly aspirant for demonstrating true love to his constituents, saying the items would cushion the effect of stay at home for residents in the constituency.
The assembly aspirant while praising Governor of the state, Engr. Seyi Makinde for various steps being taking in repositioning the state, also louded the unrelenting efforts of Sen. Hosea Agboola, the state Advisory Council Chairman and Chief Bisi Ilaka, the Chief of Staff to governor Makinde, and for their steadfastness in the state.
