The caretaker chairman of Oluyole local government, Hon. James Adeleke and secretary of the council, one Mr Dipo, a London returnee are allegedly in Idi-Ayunre Police Station over missing ‘6 million naira.’
Sources, who preferred anonymity, told
insideoyo.com that trouble started this morning when the chairman did not find the alleged sum which he had kept in a ‘safe’ last night.
Political office holders in the council were said to have allegedly shared the alleged sum of money last night. While others took theirs away, the chairman was said to have kept his own share inside the ‘safe’.
The chairman was, however, surprised to find an empty safe when he got to the council’s secretariat this morning. He immediately alerted the police when attempt to get the money proved abortive.
He was said to have allegedly told the police that he suspected his secretary, who he said was the only person that knew about the money. His secretary was said to have denied the allegation.
Insideoyo.com spoke with the divisional police officer of the council, Mr. Adetutu, who said he was not aware but asked the reporter to speak with the area commander.
Efforts to get the comments of the chairman and his secretary proved abortive as their phones were not available as at the time of filing this report.
Insideoyo.com also learnt that leaders of the party have waded in as they are said to be at the Police Station.
