The Campaign Organisation of the gubernatorial candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Oyo State Chapter, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin has alleged that the Senatorial ambition of Governor Abiola Ajimobi is a ploy to cover up his mismanagement, embezzlement and misappropriation as the Governor of the state for eight (8) years.

The allegation was contained in a release signed by Director of Public Communication, New Media and Tertiary Institution for Handshake Campaign Organisation, Engineer Akeem Olatunji.

Olatunji stated that in order for Governor Ajimobi to shield himself from giving account of his maladministration, he is struggling with the last drop of his blood to run into Senate for cover up and this could be attributed to recent hostile attitudes of APC to opposition parties particularly ADC which is the biggest and most popular political party in Oyo state but people of the state have rejected APC due to its anti-masses policies with preference for ADC and her candidates

According to the statement, “It is an open secret that within seven and half years administration of Governor Ajimobi, he has plunged the people of the state most especially traders, civil servants both local and state into serious economic crisis.

“His (Ajimobi) administration has turned governance in Oyo state into personal and family affairs. He only appointed his friends, families and cronies as local government chairmen until recently that he organised kangaroo local government election.

“Within those period without elected local government leadership, he was in control of local government allocation, which hindered effective and efficient governance at the grassroots”.

The Director of Public Communication for Handshake Campaign Organisation stressed further that APC led administration in the state has failed to pay gratuity of primary school retirees since 2011, owed local and state workers salary arrears between 6-18 months including salaries of workers of the six tertiary institutions owned by Oyo state which is running to 10 to 24 months salary arrears. All these will be resolved within 6 months tenure of Sen Lanlehin led ADC administration in the state while gratuities of workers will be paid on the last day of disengagement from service.

“Recently, instead for the state to allow the local government to run its affairs after the local government election, Governor Ajimobi still dip his hand into local government accounts to purchase tractors and excavator machines for them thereby making a mockery of President Buhari’s anti corruption stance.

“Each local government knows her own priority, but the Governor forced his own idea and spending on them so as to divert money meant for public good to personal cover.

“Since the inception of Governor Ajimobi government in 2011, many civil servants have been retired without employing new workers. But to our surprise rather than for the wage bill to come down, it is increasing monthly.

“We want to assure good people of the state that all these funds shall be accounted for at the appropriate time. We also want to appeal to the people of the state to vote for Senator Olufemi Lanlehin as Governor, Senator Ridwan Adesoji for Oyo South senatorial district, Monsurat Sumonu for Oyo Central senatorial district Chief Bayo Lawal for Oyo North senatorial district and all other ADC candidates in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
