The Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state, Honourable Joshua Oyebamiji has said that the opposition party in Oyo state is not losing its members to other political parties contrary to rumour making the rounds.
He stated that rather, the broom party is on daily basis, receiving politicians from both the ruling party and others in the build up to the 2023 general elections.
The former Chairman of the Oyo State House of Assembly Committee on Information stated these on Saturday while fielding questions from Aanuoluwapo Omorinde on BOTTOM LINE – a political programme on IBR 92.5fm Ibadan.
Atiku as he is fondly called emphatically said Chief Adebayo Adelabu, Penkelemesi will be returning to the APC before the elections next year.
In his words “I told you the Deputy Governor will be joining our party before a month the last time I came here. Before a month, did it happen or not? I am also telling you that Adebayo Adelabu will be coming back to the APC before the election. Just wait and see. Not on my order but on the order of our leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. Just wait and see”.
Oyebamiji, said happenings in his party especially in Oyo state have divine intervention.
His words: “We prayed and worked for the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as the Presidential candidate of our party and God has answered our prayers because “awa lokan”. God again answered our prayers by giving us Senator Teslim Folarin as the APC candidate in Oyo. What else!”.
Boasting of victory in 2023, he alluded to the charge of Tinubu to Folarin to vigorously reconcile the aggrieved parties in Oyo APC when he last visited Ibadan as prophetic.
When queried why he painted Tinubu’s personal ambition as Yoruba’s project, he replied saying “awa lokan” meaning it is the turn of the Yorubas to produce the next president.
According to him “if you go out and talk about this (Tinubu’s aspiration) to 10 people out there, hardly will you see two that will say otherwise. It simply means it is the turn of the Yorubas. Awolowo tried and failed. Abiola tried and failed. This time around that we (Yorubas) have the opportunity, you want us to lose it?”.
He alleged that the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration had plundered Oyo State into debt but when asked to back up his claim with proofs, he said when next he comes on the programme, he will furnish the people with details stressing that as a psychologist, he loves to deal with facts. This he said the APC has and that in the fullness of time, the PDP led government will be exposed.
