Accord To Ajimobi: “You Lied; Ladoja, Not Lam-Adesina Initiated Ibadan Circular Road Project”

Following the ‎flag-off of the N70 billion Ibadan circular road construction yesterday by the Oyo State government, Accord has berated the governor, Sen. Abiola Ajimobi for what it described as his penchant for not always giving credit to who deserves it.

‎The government had,  in a statement, stated that the project was conceived by the administration off late former governor Lamidi Adesina, 15 years ago.

But Accord, in a statement by its spokesperson, Akeem Olatunji ‎said that the project was the idea of its leader, former governor Rashidi Ladoja‎. The party explained that the project was part of the campaign promises of Ladoja and not that of his predecessor.

According to the statement, “unlike Ajimobi, Ladoja sset up committees to make feasibility studies and they came up with a comprehensive design for the road after which the project was awarded but the contract was terminated by former Gov Adebayo Alao-Akala who saw no reason for the project.

“Although no one takes the governor and his party serious anymore due to their penchant for falsehood and inexplicable hatred for Senator Ladoja and his undying legacies, which are still visible several years after he left government.

“It is an open secret that the contract for the survey of the road was awarded in 2005 by Ladoja, while the engineering design was awarded in 2005 and concluded in 2007.

“The Ajimobi led administration, having been boxed to corner could not deny that the contract for the construction of the road, which was divided into two phases, was awarded to two contractors by the Ladoja administration.

“For reasons not made public, the Alao-Akala administration substituted the project with new ones while the contractors were compelled to execute them, having already been mobilized by Ladoja government for the construction of the circular road.

“What Ajimobi and his bench warmers executives have done is tantamount to stealing of intellectual property without giving credit to the originator. Accord is not surprised by the antics of Oyo State All Progressives Congress, APC, led administration as the actions of their principal is to erase all the legacies our leader, since his dying party cannot withstand our party as the biggest opposition party in Oyo State,” he stated.
