The 8 Accord lawmakers in the Oyo State House of Assembly have decided to support initiative by alumni of the Ladoke Akintola University, LAUTECH, Ogbomoso, towards solving the funding problem rocking their alma mater.
#FundLAUTECH, an initiative to generate fund through donations, was launched in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, last week.
They pledged a donation of N1, 000, 000 to support the cause.
According to Hon. Fatai Adesina Adeniyi, who represents Ibadan South East 1, the gesture was borne of the need to jointly rescue the school. He added that the House is not relenting in its effort to finding lasting solution to the crisis.
Adeniyi, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues after the party leader and former governor Rashidi Ladoja of Oyo State made a donation of N5, 840, 000 to #FundLAUTECH, said: “We are committed to pro-masses initiative. We cannot fold our arms and allow things to degenerate. While we hope the issue will be resolved soon, we want to urge well-meaning Nigerians to support this cause.
The leader of the team, Mr. Bayo Adeyinka, thanked the lawmakers for the gesture, adding that they would be transparent in the disbursement of the money.
At the event were Honourables Kehinde Olaoya of Ibadan North East 1 and Akeem Ademola Ige of Ibadan South East 2.
