In the last month, Engr Seyi Makinde has made some incredible moves as the governor of the Oyo state.
In his inauguration speech, the governor promised to revive the state’s economy through agriculture and lift people out of poverty.

1. Scrapping of school fees

2. Appointing first female SSG
On Friday, Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, announced the appointment of Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun, as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). This is the first female SSG in the history of the state.
Mrs. Adeosun is a licensed Pharmacist and a Chartered Human Resources Practitioner who obtained a degree in Pharmacy and a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Benin in 1990 and 1997 respectively.
He has over twenty-six years of diverse multinational experience, which has seen her hold lead roles in SmithKline Beecham (GlaxoSmithKline) and the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC). She has held multiple roles with local and global remits in the organisations.READ MORE
3. Composition of Advisory Council
Engr Makinde established and made composition for an advisory council for the state. The Council is to advise the Executive Governor and his cabinet from time to time on the implementation of developmental programmes and policies of the present administration. 4. Inauguration of youngest speaker at the Oyo House of Assembly
Governor Seyi Makinde was instrumental to the emergence of 32-year-old Adebo Ogundoyin as the Speaker of the Ninth Oyo state House of Assembly.

5. Prompt payment of workers’ and pensioners’ salaries
Governor Seyi Makinde made case for prompt payment of salaries and pension of workers on the payroll of Oyo State Civil Service.
InsideOyo.com reports that the Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Oyo State branch, commended the State Governor for this.
The Pensioners reportedly described it as first time in the history that Oyo state pensioners and workers, salaries and pensions received on the 25th of the month.

6. Re-opening of Secretariat Bridge and renaming it Freedom Bridge
Governor Seyi Makinde ordered the opening of Oyo secretariat bridge and named it freedom bridge, InsideOyo.com reports.
The bridge was used by the previous governor and his family only, during his eight-year tenure but has since been opened for public use. Immediately after his inauguration, Makinde announced his first appointment, Chief Bisi Ilaka as his chief of staff.
