The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Oyo state on Tuesday, said that it is yet to pay ad hoc staff for the governorship election in the state because some of them submitted wrong account details.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of INEC in Oyo State, Mr. Mutiu Agboke in a phone conversation with Daily Trust said the commission was unable to pay because whereas some of the ad hoc staff submitted wrong account details, others used account numbers of a third party.

He said that made it difficult for the commission to process the payment.

“Some of them submitted wrong account details; others used account numbers of a third party. That’s the problem we are facing…As I am speaking with you now, we are in a meeting to sort out the issues and reconcile so that everybody gets his or her money,” he said.

On how long it would take to sort out the issues, the REC said he could not disclose that but assured that the commission would pay the ad hoc staff as soon as possible.

Some ad hoc staff who worked in some states during the March 9 governorship election are murmuring as the electoral body is yet to be pay their stipends almost two weeks after the elections.
