MEMBERS of the Oyo State House of Assembly have urged the Executive arm, led by Governor Abiola Ajimobi, to be gender compliant.
Many people, especially women, have criticised the non-inclusion of women in the list of the 57 nominees sent to the Assembly for screening and consideration.
The two female members of the House of Assembly, Honourables Bolanle Agbaje (Ibadan North 1) and Olawumi Oladeji (Ogbomoso North) were said to have frowned at the list when they could not see a name of a feminine gender.
Reading his report, chairman of the House Committee on local government and chieftaincy matters, Hon. Bolaji Badmos (Akinyele 2) recommended that “the Executive Arm is hereby urged to be gender compliant pursuant to section 11 of the local government law 2001 (as amended).”
