Desirous of finding lasting peace to the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State, the party’s Elders’ Advisory Council, is setting up a reconciliation  and harmonization committees at the ward-local and state levels.

A communique signed jointly by the chairman and secretary of the council, Barr. Iyiola Oladokun and Dr. Isiaka Kolawole respectively, asked the two sides in the party to nominate members into the 132-man ward-local and 6-man state harmonisation committees.

They copied the chairman of the party, Hon. Isaac Omodewu in the resolution.

Part of the resolution reached at the meeting held at the Bodija home of Oladokun, who was deputy to late former governor Lamidi Adesina between 1999 and 2003, reads: “Having recognized the need for genuine reconciliation and harmonization of party executives at ward, local and state levels, the Oyo State APC Elders Advisory Council led by His Excellency (Barrister) Iyiola Oladokun hereby calls for nominations into 132-man Ward-Local and 6-man State Harmonisation Committees.

“Internal contestation, arguments and disagreements are normal in a political setting. A political party without divergent views is not a strong platform. However, It can only become a problem when we are not capable to forge agreement after disagreement. Hence, the move by the Oyo APC Elders Advisory Council to resolve all our internal issues with a view to repositioning the progressive family in the state ahead of the forthcoming party’s primary elections and 2023 General elections.”

As for term of reference for ward-local harmonization committee, the statement continues, “Four notable and credible party members from each of the 33 LGAs would be nominated. This means “two (2) nominees from each of the two sides”.

“The 4-man harmonization committee in each council area is to ensure genuine harmonisation of ward and local executives

“For the state harmonization committee, 6 notable and credible party members. This means “three (3) nominees from each of the two sides”. The 6-man harmonisation committee is to midwife harmonisation of state executives of the party. The Committee shall also look into likely unresolved harmonization issues, arising from the tasks given to the ward-local harmonisation committee._

“To this end, concerned stakeholders are requested to forward their nominees for membership of the  harmonization committees to the secretary of Oyo State APC Elders Advisory Council,                            Dr. Isiaka Olayinka Kolawole on 08033115889 latest by 10:00am on Tuesday, 12th April 2022* for immediate inauguration on the same day.”

The council thanked members and leaders “for their anticipated cooperation in our collaborative efforts towards enthroning a united house for the sake of our great party and for the benefit of the teeming members across the 351 wards of Oyo State.”
