Aspirant under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) for the position of House of Representatives in Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency, Arc Hassan Olawale Giwa has thanked all delegates, supporters and members of the party for their support before, during and after the party primary.

Giwa, while speaking after the keenly contested primary election held at Islamic Mission School, Akinyele, commended all the party leaders, Chief Segun Ajuwon, Chief Ojo Lanre, Alhaji Safejo, Hon. Remi Adebayo and Hon. Sikiru Adebayo for their steadfastness and wisdom in ensuring a hitch-free exercise.

He disclosed that the outcome of the primary election has proved his popularity and general acceptance by the leaders, members and delegates of the party.

Giwa explained that despite the fact the outcome of the election was a stalemate with each of the three aspirants receiving 31 votes, commended his team for a job well.

He assured that he will not relent on his effort by continuing to reach out to people and winning more fans and supporters to his side.

Announcing the result of the primary election, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Mr. Ayobami Tirimisiyu, announced Hassan Olawale Giwa, 31 votes, Olasupo Philips David, 31 votes, Adeyemo Modinat Temitope, 31 and Akinmoyede Lafioye Wasiu, who had gone to stage a parallel primary, 0 vote. While 4 votes were void.

Ayobami further announced that the number of delegates are 130, while the total number of votes cast were 97.

Giwa, while reacting to the parallel primary election staged by Hon. Lafioye Akinmoyede, Arc Hassan Giwa described it as a kangaroo primary, saying that it is an excuse himself from humiliation.

He said that the outcome of their primary election has indicated that the people of Lagelu Local Government are free from the hegemony of mediocres who dominated the political landscape of the council area.

According to him, “the primary election was supposed to be among four aspirants, and it was supposed be held at an agreed venue, and only one aspirant, Lafioye, out of four went on to do his own at his own backyard and he declared himself winner, what do we call that? It is nothing but a charade.

“We had our primary, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was there in person of Mr. Akinremi Ademola to monitor the exercise, security operatives were there to ensure adequate security, party leaders and members were there to perform their role as mediators and most importantly, the delegates were there to vote the aspirant of their choice without fear or intimidation. What else do you want or need?

“If there is any other primary election for the House of Representatives in Lagelu/Akinyele Federal Constituency except the one we, three aspirants, Myself, Hassan Giwa, Olasupo Philips and Modinat Adeyemo participated, it is a Kangaroo election,” Giwa said.
