Following the announcement by the Oyo state government over the handing over of the Government College Ibadan (GCI) to the alumni association of the school, more details have emerged on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the government and the Government College Ibadan Old Boys Association (GCIOBA) regarding the mode of operation of the school.

This details were made known in a statement by Vice President, GCIOBA, Tola Obembe.

The MOU has it that governing board of the GCI will be responsible for the administration of the school.

To join the governing board in administration of the school are representatives of the state government and the Parents Teachers Association.

Also contained in the agreement are that the Old Boys will continue to develop the infrastructure of the school, improve its teaching methods and train the staff to actualize the objectives of enhancing the quality of teaching.

In requesting the state government to handover management, operation and development of the school to it, the old students disclosed that it had already spent over N2billion on the school.

This is as the old boys pledged to retain the free education policies of the present administration to the effect that no tuition fees will be paid by the students of the school.

The MOU signed between the two parties concerns the management, operation and development of the school.
